México y Portugal trabajarán en agenda conjunta que beneficie a ambos países

La secretaria de Relaciones Exteriores de México, Alicia Bárcena Ibarra, y el ministro de Negocios Extranjeros de Portugal, João Gomes Cravinho, se reunieron el 25 de septiembre de 2023 en la Ciudad de México.

Ambos cancilleres dieron seguimiento a la reunión sostenida entre el presidente Andrés Manuel López Obrador y el primer ministro António Costa, en el marco de la Conmemoración del 50 Aniversario del golpe de Estado en Chile, en Santiago.

En el marco del excelente estado de la relación bilateral, acordaron intensificar los intercambios con agendas sustantivas y diversificadas que se traduzcan en acuerdos mutuamente benéficos.  Igualmente, indicaron que se revisará el marco jurídico bilateral para avanzar en los Acuerdos pendientes de suscribirse e identificar aquellos que ameriten actualización. En ese sentido, se buscará reforzar la concertación en los ámbitos iberoamericano, birregional y multilateral.

Destacaron el buen nivel de las inversiones y los intercambios económicos; así como la necesidad de hacerlos más dinámicos frente al amplio potencial de complementariedad existente entre México y Portugal. Igualmente, reconocieron el papel de las empresas portuguesas en proyectos de relevante interés propuestas por la actual administración e intercambiaron impresiones sobre las posibilidades de impulsar iniciativas de cooperación en materia de puertos y energía.

Portugal y México reiteraron su apoyo al proceso de modernización del Acuerdo Global México-Unión Europea, instrumento estratégico tanto a nivel bilateral como birregional para nuestros países.

Coincidieron en que el 160 Aniversario de Relaciones Diplomáticas, que se celebrará el 20 de octubre de 2024, es una excelente oportunidad para profundizar el diálogo político bilateral e incrementar la cooperación para seguir generando beneficios para ambos pueblos, contribuyendo de manera constructiva a un sistema internacional basado en reglas, a la gobernanza global y al desarrollo sostenible.

Abordaron temas de la agenda internacional como la lucha contra el cambio climático, la transición energética, la migración, así como la defensa del derecho internacional. En este marco, expresaron su solidaridad con el pueblo ucraniano tras la agresión rusa y el apoyo a su independencia, soberanía e integridad territorial, como se establece en las resoluciones pertinentes de la ONU, a fin de lograr una paz justa, integral y duradera en consonancia con los principios de la Carta de las Naciones Unidas.

La secretaria Bárcena y el ministro Gomes Cravinho concluyeron subrayando su compromiso conjunto para la promoción del estado de derecho, la democracia, el respeto a los derechos humanos, la inclusión social, la lucha contra la pobreza y la desigualdad, la protección de la biodiversidad y el medio ambiente, y la promoción de la cooperación internacional.
