La más abultada hasta ahora fue un 7-0 contra la Unión Soviética, en 1987, y en el Mundial de 1999, Ghana le anotó un 4-0. Había sido la última vez que le anotaron tantos goles a México con demasiada facilidad. Hoy, otro equipo africano ha puesto en evidencia el nivel de la selección y ha demostrado que en las categorías formativas, nadie tiene los diamantes en bruto que ellos poseen y que son observados por empleados de los grandes equipos europeos.

Además de la división sub 17, otras categorías juveniles, incluyendo a la rama femenina, se han llevado decepciones debido a la inoperancia de los seleccionadores. Este año, México faltó al Mundial sub 20 celebrado en Argentina. La Selección Femenina perdió un torneo que daba lugares para el Mundial Femenino Australia/Nueva Zelanda, y los Juegos Olímpicos Paris 2024.
